お雑煮 Zoni Soup
今年も元日はこのテーマです。親戚(関東)の家で振舞われるお雑煮は、焼かない角餅の澄まし汁です。お宅はどんなお雑煮ですか?
Zoni (or "Ozoni" more politely) is a kind of soup cooked on New Year's day (January 1st) in Japan. Different areas have different kind of Zonis, and the one served at my relative's place (from Kanto area) has ungrilled square mochi with clear soup (whereas in some parts of Japan the soup is seasoned with miso with grilled or ungrilled round mochi in it). I wonder what kind of zoni you eat at your place.
